Letter and card writing Thursday 4th October 2007

We intend this to be a regular get-together on the first Thursday of every month.  If you have a particular letter that you want members to read and sign then please bring a copy along.  Oh, also bring a pen!  The venue will be Community House on Eton Road, Maindee, Newport, NP19 0BL.  Location map.

Human Rights for China - Public meeting 5.45pm Tuesday 2nd October 2007

With the Olympics in China next year, our focus is on ensuring a that the legacy of the game includes a significant improvement in the human rights of its people. Come and listen to Rebiya Kadeer, an inspirational woman from the Uighur muslim minority from Xinjiang province. The leader of a persecuted people, her family has suffered greatly due to her political activism. Thousands have been imprisoned across the region and freedom of expression severely restricted.  Poster pdf.

Amnesty Newport stall, Friday 28th September 2007 11-3pm

We will be placing a stall outside the H & M store in Newport to raise the profile of Amnesty Newport.  Please drop by to have a chat, pick up some information or lend a hand for half an hour or so.  The H & M store is at 161-163 Commercial Street, Newport NP20 1JQ.  Map.

We want to organise a meeting for people who would like to get involved in events in Newport for Refugee Week. 8pm next Thursday 8th March at the Murenger pub, High Street, Newport has been suggested - contact Neil.
