About the group
We meet to discuss action on human rights issues or listen to speakers
on relevant topics. The group is part of the UK section and participates
in nationally-organised campaigns. All campaigns are co-ordinated by a
group member who can provide all the information and help you to write
your first letter.
Meetings
The group meets at 7pm on the 3rd Monday of each month (except August)
at the Civic Centre in Newport.
The purpose of these meetings is to discuss issues of the day,
decide what action to take, and arrange dates and venues for future
events. We all try and write at least one letter a month to raise
awareness of issues important to the group. These issues vary from time
to time depending on the makeup of the group.
The group also holds a monthly public meeting and the venue is
now the Civic Centre, Newport where representatives of other
organisations talk about a human rights issue currently in the public
eye.
